Mahi also commonly referred to as dolphin, not to be confused with the mammal, are one of the most abundant pelagic species in the oceans around the world. Their vivid colors are comprised of blue, green, yellow, and all possible combined mixtures. They are great table fare of often caught while trolling around weed lines, color changes, and temperature breaks offshore. If you’re lucky enough to run across a floating pallet or any structure offshore, make sure to slow down and take a look for the brightly colors species looking for an easy meal of baitfish holding underneath the floating debris. It’s always a good idea to have a spinning rod or even a fly rod ready to go in case the situation allows the opportunity to sight fish.
