The key to most things in life is finding balance. The same is true when selecting a marine flooring option that suits your boating needs. With a variety of different materials available in today’s market, it’s good to learn what separates them. Spending a few minutes to educate yourself can be the difference between years of enjoyment or months of headaches.
There are two main types of semi-permanent flooring options to chose from. Both styles are vinyl based; PVC style products and EVA/PE flooring solutions. Genuine SeaDek is the latter. The major noticeable difference between the two styles is durometer. Durometer is the international standard for measuring the hardness of rubber, plastic, and most nonmetallic materials.
The benefit to EVA/PE marine flooring over a PVC style material is the comfort factor. While they both provide an aesthetically pleasing upgrade to your boat, EVA/PE closed cell foam has low enough durometer rating so it also provides comfort. This makes those long days on the water a little easy on your body. Whether you’re out wakeboarding crawling on and off the swim platform or crossing to the Bahamas with your buddies for a weekend of diving and fishing; when your day or adventure is over your body will thank you.
SeaDek provides that perfect durometer of material whether you’re a weekend warrior or an avid angler. We service many charter captains and guides who put in over 250+ days a year on the water. A true testament not only for the durability of the product, but also the comfort, traction, and safety it provides to their clients. Is SeaDek bulletproof? Of course not, if you drop something sharp it’s possible to put a knick or cut in the pads. That same drop may have resulted in a chip in the gelcoat or scratch in the paint.
We offer ONLY Genuine SeaDek. We’ve looked into offering other alternative brand EVA/PE materials to give customers multiple price point options. After rigorous real world and lab testing, nothing has been able to hold up and withstand the harsh marine environment the way SeaDek has. While many companies claim their material does, our testing proves otherwise. Quality is a core value of our company and we have chosen not to sacrifice quality just to offer a less expensive product.
