In the world of boating you have several types of boats. Many of them are very specific such as technical poling skiffs on one end of the spectrum and large sport fishing boats on the other end. For the average boater, either one of these options aren’t what they are searching for. A very popular style style boat and the staple of many boat manufactures are the models that appeal to a larger audience. The bay boat market is huge especially in Florida because of the versatility it offers. While you may not be able to pole it on a shallow flat in Mosquito Lagoon, you can use a trolling motor to run deeper edges or bars searching for fish. The higher freeboard also allows you traverse open water safely and comfortably. A bay boat also makes a great family boat because you can carry more people and many of them are setup with flip up and forward seating to make it comfortable for the wife and kids. Those added comforts were the draw for this particular customer and he decide to go one step further in order to make his boat a little more comfortable and safe for the family by adding custom SeaDek. On this particular job the owner had a few issues with slipping on the deck so the non skid provided by the SeaDek, even when wet, had great appeal. For standard deck and floor applications either a single color 5mm or a two tone 6mm, a combination of two 3mm colors combined, are what Castaway Customs recommends. This particular customer was looking for something that would provide a little more cushion for his family to layout on the decks of the boat, so we decided to go with an 8mm thickness. The cool gray over black color combination is very popular and looked great as it added some slight contrast. Whether you are looking to completely deck out a boat or simply just add a helm pad or some coaming bolsters, if you are looking to add any SeaDek to your bay boat whether it be a Sea Hunt like this particular boat or any other brand like a Pathfinder, contact Castaway Customs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I recently got a call from Capt. Glen Brownlee who works for Estero Fire Rescue down in Lee County; I did some work for a few friends of his and he thought it would be a great idea to add custom SeaDek to the work boat in order to make it more comfortable and safe while on the water. SeaDek provides an excellent traction even when wet and makes for a safe working environment. The boat is a 22′ Boca Grande built by Panga Marine in Sarasota, FL. The Panga hull design is a tried and true design and real workhorse that has proven itself throughout Central America. The customer decided to go with a single 5mm Storm Gray material which is a good application for the floor, front deck, and gunnel tops of the boat. We went with a 10mm helm pad to add a little extra cushion when running through some rough water. If you are interested in having custom SeaDek designed and installed in your boat you can contact me at email@example.com.
I recently did some work for Captain C.A. Richardson of Flats Class TV. If you are ever looking to book a charter over in West Central Florida, make sure to give him a call. He has had some SeaDek on his boats in the past and loves the product, you can check out his personal custom SeaDek review. C.A. currently runs charters out of a Ranger 22 Bay and a few of his clients have the same boat. This particular job was for one of his clients boat. The color scheme of the hull and cushions matched the Mica color SeaDek very nicely and the 8mm two tone with the black trim really set it off. Standard thickness on most decks is either a single color 5mm or a two tone 6mm, but in this case the customer was looking for some added cushion so we decided to go with an 8mm thickness. We did the front and rear casting decks as well an area up near the trolling motor where he can stand while running the trolling motor. He also added a ruler stick logo on the front casting platform so he can measure fish. If you would like to added some custom SeaDek to your Ranger Bay Boat, or any boat for that matter you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When I think of a typical West Coast style tower boat the Sheaffer 23 is what comes to mind. There are several companies that build similar style boats and the only thing that separates them is fit and finish and budget. This customer had an issue with rods banging around on his undergunnels so he wanted to do some undergunnel pads to not only protect his rods and reels, but also his boat. This boat is a family boat as well as a fishing machine so we added a pad to the swim step on the back to make it more comfortable and safe when crawling in and out of the boat. Many of these style boats have a nice sharp entry in the bow, but are very flat off the transom so having a helm pad is a must in rough seas. We added the Sheaffer logo to the helm pad for a nice custom touch and we also designed the helm pad so it’s wide enough for more than one person to stand on. These pads are Beach Sand over Caribbean Blue and matched the boat perfectly. The hull color is light blue and the inside of the boat was a sand color so everything accented nicely. If you are interested in having some custom SeaDek made for your bay boat or offshore center console make sure to contact Castaway Customs by email at email@example.com or give me a call at 321-537-2039.
The 22 Pathfinder bay boat has been a staple for a long time in the bay boat market. Looking at the older model boats, you can see they have made some nice upgrades to the deck areas on the newer boats. This customer wanted to dress up his older boat by decking it out in SeaDek. He decided to add a few logos on the front deck as well as on the back bulkhead to give it that custom touch. Most of the boats produced by Maverick Boat Company all have an “oyster white” gel coat so our mica colored SeaDek is a nice color to match. A popular option of many customers is a pad under the leaning post to help prevent the cooler from moving around. If you are interested in having some custom SeaDek made for your bay boat or skiff feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
